Hicret aqqında Halil Abdülhakim’nin şiiri

Halil Abdülhakim (Kırıman) was one of the representatives of the Crimean Tatar community in Romania, who was familiar with Müstecip Ülküsal, an editor of the “Emel” journal. Halil Abdülhakim also wrote a play titled ‘Bora’ (“Hurricane”) that explains what could have happened would Crimean Tatar government in 1918 be able to defeat Communists and reinstate the Crimean Tatar statehood. According to Ülküsal, the play was warmly acclaimed by the local Crimean Tatar community. The short poem (written in 1937, when Crimean Tatars started leaving Romania), transliteration of which you will see below, mourns a loss of Crimea. It describes torments of lost Crimean Tatar pilgrims that can not wait to finish a meaningless journey.

Qolda tayaq, yalın ayaq,
Çöl qaramız ağlayaraq…
Cılab cürüb, çölli körüb,
Çöl cüremiz balaq turub…

Gönül taşıb, çöl çapraşaq,
Çöl taramız cür taqa eşek.
Qızıl qurdım, yandım, söndim
Qurtulsun dep yeşil curtım.

Halil Abdülhakim // Emel 1937, № 1, s. 6
